The first test is in. (A quick update) I did the bottom job, new Nissan 9.8 4 stroke on a Garhauer mount /w/ transom re-inforced with Starboard. Everything went really good. The motor is just as others have said, very quiet and powerfull. On the throttle there is a spot to set the RPM for re-starting a warm engine just past that the power ramp starts. When I set the throttle at that point (just above idle) the boat does 4 kts. The things you hear the most are the 'pisser' and the bow wave. With just a little more throttle and I'm doing 6 kts. The sound most distinct is a soft humm and the lock down clamps...I put an outboard lock on them and that stopped them from rattling. So far I give it 5 out of 5 stars. The Garhauer mount lifts the 93lbs motor with a little effort on my part. Easily managed by my wife. I still think a little stronger spring would be perfect. I give it 4 out 5 stars. As far as the new bottom goes, I'll let you know after the races
