Well, the weather was MORE than cooperative, though we did curtail the start of our journey until Saturday morning due to the threat of Friday storms. We ended up with a change of plans though. We sailed north under the Bay Bridge and had just passed underneath when we got a cell call from some friends who tie up a rather large Endeavour at Annapolis Landing. They invited us to tie up there for the night, so the three pirates handily took the marina, claiming all ships there in the name of His Majesty, King Shawn I. I

n addition to the dubious claim on the vessels, we did manage to collect tribute from our friends in the form of Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast, a Zodiac ride down Ego Alley and around the Annapolis area, and the unlimited use of the pool at the marina. All in all, MUCH easier than digging for buried treasure under the X.

Also, saw Bubba heading out Saturday with his family. Hoping he'll weigh in with a full account of his day.

The newly-installed topping lift made sail management a dream (compared to having none at all. And the Davis Tiller Tamer was great for short (operative word, SHORT) trips forward or below.

Connor (8) was quite the mate, working headsail sheet and furling line. Ryan (5), when awake, crewed nicely (mostly in form of following orders exactly and immediately) but that's more than one can expect from one so young.

All in all, a great success. We're planning a bay crossing for the weekend of the 10th and we'll repack the shovels for some proper treasure digging.

It was just one of those weekends that one will never forget.

I took my mutinous crew out for the day on Saturday. What a beautiful day for sailing. We sailed up to Annapolis and saw some two- and three-masted schooners; awesome!

My scurvey crew all brought paperback books with 'em and read! Should've never taught 'em to read. It's just that I was hoping they'd pick up the Annapolis Book of Seamanship, or a copy of Chapman's, or even a Patrick O'Brian book...

AAAAARG Bubba, me sentiments are with ya mate! I can hardly git me fair wench to join us on a cruise, and she'd probably bring a book herself. But me boys are a fine crew, and salty they are.

We'll be land-lubbers this weekend. Going down to Reedville and Williamsburg. But we'll be back at it next weekend. I will be out with a couple of guys from the office on Thursday afternoon - it just makes it feel even better when you're hooking work.

Hooked work yesterday and slipped my morrings around noon. Crossed the bay heading east in FABULOUS wind. Stayed on the same reach for two hours. Turned around and came back across and up the West River to Pirates' Cove for a great meal and cocktails. The evening thunderstorm chased me home (Casa Rio on Cadle Creek) but managed to get in and tied up unscathed. What a perfect day for sailing yesterday was!

<br />If the Navy is using the restricted area they have patrol boat(s) out and will keep you out of the area. Keep your VHF on channel 16 and the Navy
will call you if they think you are in the danger zone.
