Hi folks, When I bought my 89 wing it came with a bimini. I have never tried to install it, it just came in pieces. Maybe it works, maybe not. But after reading all of the threads on installing a bimini on a tall rig it seems that reefing and sliding the boom up is a solution. The 89 comes with a fixed gooseneck. Has anybody tried to install a sliding gooseneck as a retrofit? I'll first see how the parts go together first.....one of these days.

My guess would be that the sliding gooseneck parts from Catalina would work just fine.
Frank- You should contact Lowell at Catalina Direct with this question [lowell@catalinadirect.com]. Keep in mind that the Catalina 25 Standard Rig gooseneck WILL NOT FIT in the slot of the Catalina 25 Tall Rig. The kerf slot on our Tall Rig mast is only 3/8" wide, compared to 1/2" for the Standard Rig kerf slot. Don't know why they are different, except that I read somewhere that the C-25 Tall Rig mast is actually the same spar as the C-27 Standard Rig. I found out about the smaller kerf slot one day when I lost my sail track stopper in the drink and discovered that the replacement I bought from West Marine, which had a 1/2" slug diameter, would not go into the kerf slot. I had to grind a considerable amount of metal off both sides of the slug before it would fit.
