Today I made a template out of brown wrapping paper for a future cabin rug I plan on installing, all went well. Question I have is, can I remove the bolts holding the access ladder to the floor without any problems or suprises? This way I can slip

Frank - yes you can! You need to also remove the 2 screws in the top step on the port side, then the ladder will pull up and out.
When I install my carpet (usually I get a new remnant every year for around $10), I pull up the ladder, slide the carpet und

Do you have a swing keel?

If so, I would make sure that the keel is fully extended and there is no pressure on the winch.

Also be careful that you don't accidentally remove the cable thru-hull.

Yes I have a Swing Keel which is on a trailer. I am unable to lower the keel at this time, can I relieve some of the pressure by cranking a few turns?

Albert, Hopefully you have the swing keel cable loose with the boat sitting on the trailer. The keel should rest on the cross bar of the trailer for going down the road and storage. Far too much stress on the winch, cable, and keel connection to do othe

I am not familiar with the swing keel set up, but I have cut rugs to fit the main salon 3 times. All I did was make a cut around the ladder. I have the dinette table on a pedestal, that lowers, revolves and also comes off. I just cut around the base. To r

We just put new carpet in our 77 swing keel "Free Spirit" We used the old carpet for a template with one addition. We cut slits for the carpet to go around the steps and the table support. This allows for easy removal for cleaning and drying (if ever n
