At the end of last summer my forespar tiller extender had the tenon part bend so that it eould not snap into the receiver on the tiller. Got a new one over the winter since I couldn't fix it, and the replacement did the same thing this last week. I straightened it out so it works, but I must be putting some incorrect torque on the part -- but the helm sems pretyy balanced unless I really tighten up the split backstay heading upwind in heavy winds.
I'd take it up with Forespar. You can e-mail their customer support on their webpage. I had a problem with mine a year or so ago. It wouldn't lock well when extended. They just replaced it.
