As a dread amatuer I lost the end of my single-line reef line -- untied the stopper for a moment and zip, into the boom it went Any tips on taking the boom apart for retrieval?

Never had to do it but what I would do is take the boom off, pull the line out, replace it with a length (1-2 ft maybe...) of small ball chain (looks like little chrome balls connected by short straight peices)with a light line on one end (this is the messenger line). Stand the boom on one end and feed the chain down the boom till it comes out the correct sheave. attach the reefing line to the messenger line and pull the reefing line through... gently...

Might take some fiddling but this is how I plan on running a messenger line through a mast where there were all kinds of other lines, wires etc. that a fish tape might get hung up on.
