I have a small problem that I thought I would post before I try my own fix cause the people here on this forum always seem to have great ideas for problems.

I recently have replaced everything related to the keel and one of them was the winch. The problem seems to be the wood wedge that is inserted under the base of the winch. It will always back out and allow the winch to become loose.

My first thought is to put some glue on it and put it back into position and then tighten everthing back up. Does this sound like a good idea or am I missing something obvious about how it should be put together?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that my wedge has a hole drilled in it that the winch retaining bolt passes through... so it can't escape. I think a 7/16" hole drilled in an appropriate spot will fix your problem.

You got it..the "wedge" should have a hole in one side of it. Take one of the keel winch mounting bolts and run it through it. Then tighten as normal. Also make sure to use lock washers just before your the nuts on all 3 mounting bolts. Good luck.
