One of my lower priorities was to do something with the stove on my boat. The Princess wasn't in good shape, with only one burner functional and there was some damage to the SS mounting tray. I considered modifing to propane, but never quite got around to making that mod. A recent trip to WM brought home a shiney new Origo 3000. With the new stove in hand, I set about making the changes to the tray. Something "Nice to have" would be a drawer to store cooking utinsils, can opener, etc. "Gentle Spirit" came equipped without any drawers.

Above you can see the emptied SS mounting tray. The 2" SS strip across the bottom front of the tray had broken welds on the left side, so I drilled out the welds on the right and removed the strip. I considered using it for a drawer front, but discarded that idea. Also along the bottom of both sides are the drawer slides.

Here you can see the added aluminum angle that supports the new stove.

Here you can see that the SS strip has been moved up to make room for a shallow drawer and to cover the base of the new stove. The knob is to fill the existing hole.

What material did you use at the sink & cooler areas. How is it adhered to the countertop.

The original countertop was suffering from a case of dry rot, so I started from scratch. There is a new MDF base with new Formica. It is adheared with contact cement. Lovely job.. now if those Origo's weren't so expensive for being a couple stainless steel cans filled with rock wool and having an adjustable cover!

Yes the Origo is EXPENSIVE. But it does work great, and that took away some of the pain of buying it, but not much. Can you imagine how pissed off I would be if it was a POS? It boils water so fast that I see no reason to convert to propane. If you do propane right (and I'm not talking Coleman stove here) it will be even more expensive to convert, plus you still have the danger of heavier than air explosive fumes.
I bought a stainless steel Teapot from K mart in Marathon in the keys and it works well for boiling water for coffee. I use the Merilatt one cup coffee cones.

Earl, that is truly a great piece of furniture work you did. You are welcome to come and help me with my kitchen renovation anytime.

By the way, is that the original wooden cutting board from the original stove? I haven't gotten around to mounting mine back into the boat.

Beautiful design and workmanship, Earl. I particularly like the way you extended the galley counter surface back under the cockpit.

I am afraid that Knoxville is a bit of a commute from central Calif. And yes that is the original cutting board. I tried to reuse as many parts as possible.
