YOu could save on the up-dated/up-graded mast base plate and use an eye bolt with eye-nut as a replacement to the standard mast bolt. Then you can attach your blocks/swivels to each side.
I have to gently disagree with Duane's #1. Always run the reefing line back to the cockpit - it is the quickest and safest method of reefing. Also, it is not necessary to tie down the sail with those little lines. I had a sailmaker tell me he loved to see

I'm just getting into the same project. Here are a few of my conclusions so far:
- The best solution at the base of the mast is the inexpensive plate from Catalina Direct. Its advantage is that the mast and rig hold everything down.
