Not only did my sister-in-law wear jogging shoes that marked up the boat, but then (on the same day!) we got boarded by the Coast Guard and they too had dark-soled shoes and made an even bigger mess. I tried Simple Green but that didn't do a thing. Any suggestions?

I bought some black streak remover at boaters world. It worked. It comes in a spray bottle. I'm sure it is just some kind of cheap acid product repackaged to gouge us boaters, but it does remove those shoe marks.
I'm sure your sister will be glad to help you scrub the boat.
I was using Cetol on my boat and noticed a few small orange spots. The spray bathroom cleaner didn't touch it so I tried spraying WD-40 on a rag and wiping the spot with that. It worked. And beside that mark was a stain from my dock power cord rubbing on the boat all the time. So I tried the WD-40 wet rag on that stain and it came off too.
