For about two months now I've found myself trekking to the loo, and wondering what all the fuss was about when I got there......also I had a few bouts of pain, about three inches port of the belly button, deep in the bilges. But after sitting on my knees kissing the deck for twenty minutes it went away. (I suspect onlookers were scrambling to find the local number for Homeland Security, HARK, that looks like a man on his knees facing Mecca, on a SAILBOAT.....danger Will Rogers....)
Anyway, I digress......Yesterday I woke up with serious pain. To make a long story short, three hours later I was in the sick bay, with a hose in my arm being told I was just about done passing a kindney stone, but not quite....no sh&t...
So they pumped me up with morfine, and sent me home with assorted prescriptions and a strainer......
Now the medicine bottles had big red stickers on them warning me not to operate cars, Boeing 767's, or 23000 lb sailboats.... There is one more warning that should be on there......
When I got home, there was a UPS package. A first officer I had been flying with had bought a new G-4 laptop less than a year ago, and decided the screen was too small, so for a very reasonable price sold it to me, and sent it in the original box, with the only evidence of it being used a few broken seals....
The Admiral was to inherit the old G-3 for retail therapy in the kitchen, so as I couldn't do anything else I proceeded to clean up the G-3 for her and install all my stuff on the G-4.....somewhere in the morfine induced stupor I nuked my e-mail program....
So, if I had your e-mail address, I don't anymore. If you think I should, send me a note, or you'll never hear from me again....nothing personal.
Oscar, on the Admiral's pewter.

Oscar, As an E/R nurse, I've seen a bunch of dudes humbled by some very tiny stones. I wish you well...and remember if you need a nurse on board give me a call!
Oscar, hope you get to feeling better quick. I have known people that had your problem and their doctor told them its probably as close to giving birth as anything. It's odd though that the only two people I know flying for Continental have been DNIF and DNIS during this past week and probably for some time in the future. Wonder what ya'll know that the rest of us should?

The Admiral has trouble not smiling...... The rock was last seen at the door of my bladder......I suspect it has entered same by now. I'm feeling fine today, there is however one more stage in the rocks travel.....right know it's sort of like floating in still air with everything tied down knowing you're in the path of a big storm..... I've got two full jars of serious pain killers.......
I guess I used some military jargon you have not heard before. DNIF, "Duty Not Involving Flying" and of course DNIS (I made it up) Duty Not Involving Sailing. Will make some calls this week and send EM with your requested info. Good luck and get well soon.
