Hi All

Just happen to notice the base of my port chainplate for the upper shroud does not lay flush with the deck. It appears to have a convex shape now, about 1/16" above the deck at the widest point.

Is this a concern? Certainly this may be where water is getting in and finding its way to my portside storage under the seat.

Thanks

Hi Frank,

I think it would justify taking a close look. The hassle of removing and replacing a chainplate is certainly less then the work needed to fix a failure. It is quite likely the bedding has given up and is allowing the water in.

Hi

I would check it out right away. I had a lower chainplate failure not long ago and the excitement of that happening was a little too much. I have since replaced all of the lower chainplates and have just received new upper chainplates and will start work soon. The bolts that hold the lower chainplate onto the wooden bulkhead are on an angle on one side of my boat!

Cheers
