While searching for our next boat, I see lot's of information about furling systems. We intend to trailer probably 2 times a year to/from our dock in spring and fall (or hurricane). I've read some of the previous postings about furling systems and noticed mention of "foil type" and if the furling system is "trailerable" or not, etc...

I've never had a furling(/reef) system and want to "know" what I'm buying if a boat comes with a furling system.

Any suggestions other than calling each manufacturer?

Everything is trailerable! Something require a different technique. Floppy round shapes can sag with no damage. Hard airfoil shapes must be better supported. If you want the best airflow at your luff you obviously want the finest entry possible and that is the harken foil. If you don't car then the others are just fine.

CDI furlers (http://www.sailcdi.com/ffmain.htm) are very popular and probably the most common furlers for our boats -- a lot of bang for the buck. Mine is about 23 years old and still ticking.
