Anyone have a four stroke Evinrude 9.9 Hp outboard that has experienced problems with the ignition system? I've checked the plugs, stop switch, fuel system - including filter, etc. The fuel gets to the piston and fouls the plugs, but I'm no longer getting spark at the plug.
I've taken the motor to the dealer where I purchased it new in 2000. But I'm concerned that Bombardier may not be prompt in supplying replacement parts if any ignition components require replacement. Anyone having similar problems with similar equipment?
I had the same problem this spring with my '96 Johnson Sailmaster 2 stroke, which I also bought new in 2000 as a leftover, and it was caused by the power pack.
The engine was very dificult to start cold, but once I got it running it would start instantly for the rest of the day. New power pack; no more ignition problem. My dealer had absolutely no difficulty in obtaining the parts.
Although yours is a 4 cycle, I think it's worth looking into.
