Has anyone developed or come across a universal color scheme for all ropes on a C25 that I may apply. I understand red/green combo but what about Spinakers,Jib vs mainsail, outhaul, lazy jacks etc?
Whatever suits you. Even the red and the green have no meaning on some boats when it comes to running rigging. I have easily stepped on board over 100 boats...there is something different about each one...
Just make sure that you know and won't get confused. If you run any lines aft, you may consider labeling the clutch cleats...
I don't know if there is a universal color scheme. I just bought color coded lines, but the scheme only applies to my boat.
Blue for the main sail:halyard-white w/ blue flecks; sheet-white w/ blue flecks(came with the boat); jiffy reefing-blue w/ white flecks; topping lift-solid blue.
Green for the jib:halyard-white w/green flecks; sheets-solid green.
Red for spinaker(the sail is red):halyard-white w/red flecks; sheets-solid red; tack line-red w/ white flecks.
I always make my mainsheet solid red. I thought it generally always was solid red.
I'm wanting to use some different colors also. I figure I'll use red & white for the main halyard. Solid blue for the jibsheets and blue & white for the jib halyard (even though the jib is on a luffspare(is that the right term?(are there too many parentheses in this sentence?)))
And while we're on the subject, I've got two lines coming out the boom. Are they both supposed to be jiffy reef lines, one for the first reef and one for the second?
