Going through the stuff that was left onboard by the PO, I have been looking at this rope and block system I thought to be a billy jack (I am a novice sailor) for weeks, and last weekend realized it is a boom vang. I'd like to install it, but I need to know how to attach it to the boom and mast. I walked my marina and checked out some others boats, but am not sure which way is best and what to call the parts that are used to accomplish this. Also, I want to utilize the surface mount block and two horn cleats left behind as a reefing system. There is also one of those tack hooks for reefing. Any ideas how to proceed would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Chance

Hi Chance,

Here's a link to the C25 Parts Catalog in the brochures part of the Association website.

This page of the parts manual shows the boom vang setup as well as the jiffy reefing system as Catalina envisioned it. It should help with both of your questions.

Bill,

Thanks! This helps a great deal. I think I need another hound, a pad eye, two shackles and the 1/4" line and I'm ready to go.

By the way Bill, are you sailing out og the Bitter End or McDonald's?

My boat is at the PYC on Lake Coeur d'Alene.

Thanks,

Chance aka Steve

Hi Steve,

I've been at the Bitter End since '85.
