Historically speaking, the tall rigs are not represented very well and there is less competition for that trophy. There are three national trophies; 25 Tall rig 25 Std rig 250
Remember, we are only 1500 feet above sea level, it is an easy climb.
Charlie, they turned on the roster view. Everyone can see that Bill was first, hmm; I think Bill was also first to reserve a cabin. I see a pattern of firsts there.
1 that has a 20 ton teak filled boat who is going out to just finish a race, drink beer and take home the trophy and flag for last place in the tall rig division. We may be slow, but we will have more fun than anyone else!!!!
Perhaps a dumb question, but all of this is new to me. Do people crew on other peoples boats or does everyone bring their own crew? If people crew o others boats how is that arranged?

Anyone who shows up at the nationals will get a ride as crew even if they are all on my boat! Regattas are funny things, usually people have a crew (with a backup or two), that they have raced with for a long time. IMHO Catalina 25 sailors are less likely to race than most, we are the type who do not have regular crew. As much as I hate to say it, I am a cruiser/racer, (that hurt). I enjoy working a regatta as much as I do racing in one. I do not have regular crew, in fact I will be sailing with guests from New Orleans as crew and we have never sailed together. My rambling point is that I am sure you can crew for someone. I will add a "Crew Available/Wanted" list to this topic. Were I you I would keep up with the banter and registration site and simply email your first choice and see waz'up.
Hi Frank. Boy, is the area around L. Cheney flat or what?? Do we have to print out the form and fill it out, then send the filled out form and our $$ in before we become an official "registrant"???? Or can we fill out the form and submit it (using button at bottom of form) to be official? Then, of course, send our money in after?
When you hit submit the next page is a credit card page, after you hit THAT submit you are official.
We don't think of our area as flat, but a grade to us is 1000 yards at 1%. Cheney is in a very small river valley created by the Ninnescah river which is an Ar-Kansas (the correct pronunciation) river tributary.

Thanks Chris, I think the best thing is for you to copy it and the registration link from this site. It has had several typos fixed.
Tonight at our BOG meeting I was given the go ahead to install WiFi on our slips. That means we should have broadband at the slips in time for the nationals.
A top competitor asked about the meal schedule for the regatta. The regatta meals: Brats on a grill Friday evening so people can eat when they want. Continental breakfast on Saturday Theme dinner on Saturday evening Continental breakfast on Sunday Sunday lunch played by ear, some competitors would not stick around anyway.
For non regatta meals: There is a family restaurant close to the park entrance (very rural), 1 mi west, probably a good place for morning breakfast. There is a great bar/restaurant 10 miles south in the town of Cheney, a great place for evening dinner. Good chance I will eat there Thursday evening.
The kitchen in the Afterdeck clubhouse is obviously available for people to use anytime.
It is time to get registrations in, (refunds are handled electronically if someone has a change of plans).
