From the Commodore:
Let's get the boats out on the ocean this weekend again. Susan and I delivered two college students (one sophomore, one freshman) to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo this past weekend so we are now "childless" again. We are, however, also "moneyfree" but at least we now can make decisions based on what we want to do. So we decide to go sailing....(I heard no whining....YES!!!). Haven't been doing much sailing in awhile due to getting ready for a new school year (we both teach) and getting our two ready to head off to college.
So the commodore of the Seventh Fleet says SAIL.
Jim, Mike, Ray, Doug & Mo let's go!! We'll be there early on Saturday if not Friday night. Maybe do a group sail to San Diego and back??? With lunch somewhere like Jim suggested awhile ago???
Hope to see you there.
If there are any other Catalina sailors who would like to join us this coming Saturday, September 18, sailing Mission Bay and the ocean between Pt. Loma and La Jolla, meet us on L dock of Marina Village Marina but reply here as to when you'll arrive. You can also email me at gnorgan3 at msn.com.

Gary, wish I could join you but I've a few years to go until I'm kidless. I've written off sailing now until youth soccer season is over as every Saturday is booked till November. ( Please God don't let them get picked for post season play!)

Are your kids on campus or off? If off, I hope they were not part of the bunch that kept me up till 1:00 this past weekend! I think you have my number. I'd be happy to help your kids out if they need something that young apartment dwellers can't manage.

Gary, something I've been wanting to do is go to the US Midway museum. Its right by the Star of India. Although the idea of sailing there is grand, there are practical problems. I'd be willing to dock in Coronado and take the Ferry, but an alternative is to day sail around Mission Bay, then drive over. We can have lunch at Point Loma Seafoods. Drive back and sail some more (sunset session). Does anyone like this idea? If you're too busy to sail, you can simply join us at the Museum?

Mike? When do you have some time free on Sat. ?? I know you and Chris would like to see the ship.

Todd, I don't have a real good connection with God all the time but I will say one for you. Don't usually pray for a losing season but what's more important, right?
As far as Friday night those couldn't have been my son and his friends because they didn't get back to the apartment until around 4:30 am Saturday . My son's apartment is near downtown overlooking the railroad tracks....like, hanging over the tracks. He says he'll get used to it. His is on Fairview St., at the end of the cul-de-sac, off Johnson street I seem to remember.
Next time up I'd like to call and maybe talk boats with you.
If any emergency apartment problems arise we might take you up on your offer. He has two roommates (guys) who play trombone in the band like my son and who ride road bikes like my son. They plan on riding on the triathelon team for SLO. Keeps them busy and training every day. We have some good sailing friends from way back who live just off the freeway in Arroyo Grande who are also around.
Thanks for your offer. My daughter is in the dorm, the tower kind with a high school friend as a roommate (girl). Haven't heard from her since Sunday noon but they are busy doing the WOW thing this week. Probably too much fun to worry about talking to Mom and Dad at this point.
So we make plans to do the things we want....
Maybe someday you might be in San Diego and want to sail? Who you gonna call?? The Seventh Fleet, of course
Hope to see you someday and talk boats.
