I just sold our 1985 C25, Leigh-Marie. A Catalina 36 went up for sale suddenly in our marina and so we made the plunge. We had Leigh-Marie for 3 years and learned an amazing amount aboard her, as well as working on her. We will miss her, but we will also enjoy the new C36. Thanks for all of your help on this forum - it has been absolutely invaluable! I'm sure I will continue to "lurk" around as much of the information shared here will also apply to a C36, I presume. Adieu and happy sailing to all! (Now, I devised a mast-raising A-frame for Leigh-Marie - do you think it will work for a 50 mast?)

Uhhhhhh... make sure your liability insurance is current before you try it! (They probably won't cover the mast, based on the "rank stupidity" clause.)

Keep in touch with us, Dave & Sharon--as with Oscar, we love to hear the experiences of those who've succumbed to x-foot-itis(x=11 in your case).

Awesome... hope you have great times on your new vessel.

Another 3 to 5 years and I hope to be making the step up too... 38' to 48' pilothouse. I want to see the Marquesas rising out of a tropical sea...

Congratulations on your 36. They are truly beautiful boats.
You might check out Catalina36.org for the C36 National Assn. Their website can't hold a candle to the C25 Forum for an instantaneous source of expert and personalized advice on any topic one cares to mention, but it's a place to start.
We had our 1987 model for four years before geography (having a boat in the water in Puget Sound 8 hours away was just too far) before "upgrading" to our current C25 that lives here in the yard with us in eastern Oregon. Don't know which model year you have, but there were not a lot of system changes in the 1983-1990 period before the Mark IIs came out.
We are hardly experts on the 36, but always happy to answer questions.
Best regards,

There are lots of ex C25 owners who 'hang around' the forum. Along with the C30, one of the biggest around...lots of good information that applies to all sailboats.

At Ease just described me. Spent the weekend at Angel Island and time with an old friend and dockmate who still has his C25.

In addition to the C36 'site, try www.c34ia.org. The boat SYSTEMS are pretty much the same, and we have lots of great technical information.

Fair winds,
