Didn't there used to be a location on this website with all of the C25 upgrades and projects with photos and information?
Where did this go?
I really loved looking at everyone's ideas...
Thanks!
Karen :)

I'm into more light reading, mostly fictional adventure. A couple of years ago, before the movie "Master an Commander, Far Side of the World" came out, I started the Patrick O'Bryan, Aubrey and Maturin series. Eventually I bought the entire 20-book series. Once started I couldn't put the books down. After reading O'Bryan I bought a similar, 24-book series by Alexander Kent, also very good reading. Both of these are British navy circa Nepoleanic Wars. The movie by the way is actually two titles from the series which covered an adventure in South America.

I also stumbled upon a series written about a fictitious American Revolutionary War sea captain by James Nelson which is also very good.I'm still working on getting all Nelson's books. I believe he's written eight or ten.

I am just now completing a book by Richard Zacks titled "The Pirate Hunter, the True Story of Captain Kidd". A very interesting book that tells about how a prominent New York merchant, the notorius Cpt Kidd, accepts a priveteering mission from some powerful British Lords and ends up being wrongly accused and hanged for piracy by the East India Company.

If you would like more info on the individual books or authors, post the questions. I check the site every day, sometimes twice.

Karen,

I accidently posted this reading list here instead of on Steve's question regarding good books to read. Definately off your subject but maybe it will be useful anyway.

I've made a number of upgrades on my C25T in the last 15 years. If you like If you'd like to rad about let me know.

John,

Just did a relook of your great fuel tank installation. Super pics and neat installtion. One question...... does your outboard have a problem sucking gas all all that way up?

Hi Al,

I cruised about 500 N miles this summer and didn't have any problem with fuel. When the Honda is down in the water the pump is just about even with the tank. When re-routing the fuel line I made sure the primer bulb was at the motor end of the line.

I always had easy starts and good motor performance.

We had such good wind in the upper great lakes this summer, during a 10 day cruise around Isle Royal we used less than 6 gallons in over 200 miles. Good thing since fuel at rock harbor was in the $5 range.

I just hated having to re-fuel the 4 gallon honda tank from jugs, especially in 4-6 ft seas.

John,

Isle Royal, my stomping grounds. I live on the Keweenaw Peninsula, near Houghton Michigan. My home is on Portage Lake, which, as you may know, is connected to Lake Superior by ship canal on both ends. It's a great sailing place. I'm probably at risk for saying this but I've been trying to get my yacht club to sponsor the nationals up here. Keweenaw Bay would be great for it. Kind of out of the way though.

That's why I installed the 12 gallon Tempo tank. Filling from a gas can would be a messy problem on big water. Your lucky you didn't round the Isle earlier in the year. There was no fuel up there at all. The fuel barge was condemned by the CG. It's probably why fuel is in the $5+ range. I went south on my cruise. Big Bay, Marquette, Munising, Grand Marais and return. Nine days and 360 miles of bliss. Had to sail the best two -the windiest, by myself.

Anyway. If your ever up our way again, let me know. We can visit and toss a few cold ones at one of our many local brew pubs.

As we sailed past park H.Q. we saw the old barge. There appeared to be something resembling a landing craft tied there. are they transporting a fuel truck over now? There was fuel at Rock harbor in early July, don't know about Windago though. Since we didn't need fuel we didn't ask. We fueled up at the Grand Portage reservation for about $1.90 per gallon. I'm on Neebish Island (near the Soo)all summer. A visit to Houghton would be very nice. One thing for sure, If you could get a regatta on Lake Superior, no one from the Pacific NW would ever complain about cold water again. Whenever I was in the open lake this summer I never got a reading over about 39. Perhaps it warmed a bit in August.
Stay in touch let's see about putting a rendezvous together in your area.

John,

A rondevous sounds great. I already thinking about next seasons cruise and this could be it. I'll contact you via email.

Your right about the weather. I spent a night at Grand Island -Munising in the last week of June. It was 39 degrees. Speaking of weather, I raced yesterday, today it snowed.... briefly.
