Ok Mates, make me smarter! Electrial topic.
My '85 SK, SR is (has got) the replacement thru-cabin top four pin plug connector. I did this today. I checked the "tech tip" from Andy Paras, which was really clear on this topic,
which wire goes where. So, don't you know, I discover I have only three wires...does that mean my steaming light and anchor light live in a parellel circuit? I'm ok on the steaming light, but the light at the "top of the pole", it be dead. Another reason to learn how to
drop the mast! Well, let me not say drop...I think a P.O. did that trick when you look at the mast foot.
Your comments are always a treat,
Capt'n Billy

The original steaming and anchor lights likely share a common return (a.k.a. ground) wire.

Sounds like a bulb thing......

If not it's wire tracing time.....TIP: Get a 50 foot roll of wire, a 9v battery and a buzzer.....makes checking for continuity over longer distance a whole lot easier...

A lot of multimeters have continuity tester buzzers built in. I have the long piece of wire too, with alligator clips on each end. That makes it really easy.
With my 5 pin plug I was able to hook up an anchor light, deck light, steaming light, and windex light

Frank,

Tell me more about the five pin plug. Do you have a late model C25? I don't recall at the moment if my 88 has a five pin plug. If it does, should I expect to have an extra strand up there for the windex light? I'd like to install one.
