I did not know this. I just called CD to order a new manual and was told that everyone who already owns one gets the update free. They went out last week by bulk mail.

Frank,

Pardon my ignorance, but is that just for customers of CD who purchased earlier editions, or is this a factory released update? Also, does it include C-250s? I got the 5th edition 250 keel model book (dated 7/31/01) with my new boat last month.

Thanks for the alert!

I believe it's for folks who purchased Catalina Direct manuals in the past.
Catalina Direct is an independent company and <> Catalina Yachts.

I'm not aware that Catalina Direct has gotten into the C-250 parts business, probably because it's a current model from Catalina. The C-22 (Mark I) and C-25 represent a much larger market for them, and obviously are not current products. Their working relationship with Catalina Yachts seems to be good--they have apparently taken over inventorying parts from a number of third parties.

I talked to Lowell Richardson, Owner of CD, about a catalog for the 250. He said it is unlikely he will ever have one. He clamed Catalina made changes with out keeping track of when and if you tell him the hull #, he can't be sure what parts are on the boat.

still you'd think there would be a market for "aftermarket" goodies for a 250....are we not approaching close to 900 hulls?

If for nothing else, to replace all the starboard parts with teak ones.
