A little chop never hurt anyone Yesterday I was able to raise the mast on Chick-a-pea again after the storms so hopefully I will be out there with my canvas up soon also. The weather has improved greatly over here on this side of the country. Temperatures are dropping and so is the humidity. Only supposed to be 80f and winds today are going to be about 20k. I had my stepson help me step the mast yesterday. I am trying to give him some direction to go in. He's had a tough row to hoe. When he was young his father would take them out fishing offshore and then pass out in the bottom of the boat and he would have to take the boat back in. Now his father is dead in an alcohol related crash along with his uncle. So we went out yesterday and had a pretty good time teaching him some of the stuff about sailboats.
I was a little embarassed because the fish was small...legal, but what we call a "rat". So he was not immortalized on the web site, maybe next weekend, they are still here. We are having dense morning fog, could put a damper on things.
....so when you check out Jim's picture of my boat you'll notice I am on starboard tack. I WAS on port tack but the big boat knows the right of way rules and forced me to tack. I just wanted to make it close...maybe "just" pass behind the stern but decided otherwise. Besides, we saw the whales again and needed to tack to get over to where they were.
I pick up my regular camera prints tomorrow.....then I can show you some shots of Jim fishing. BTW, I watched him catch alot of green grass (haha) out there. It "looks" like a good catch, too, when he'd reel it in. Oh, well, he's having some fun anyway. I don't fish but I listen to Jazz and Classical music all day and bring along some good food and drinks so am enjoying the sail.
Friday night we have Dave Bristle here in town and I'll take him for a great Mission Bay evening sail. Gary is coming down to spend the night. Saturday, we'll sleep in this time (due to fog) and plan a departure around 9:30 AM bound for anywhere the wind blows. Dinner at Yakimono's in Claremont Mesa (sushi anyone?). Saturday night I'll spend aboard for an early Sunday fishing departure.
