I'm always up for a good road trip....and as road trips goes this one was a whopper!
Part of the deal with buyer of LK-2 was to meet halfway......We had it all set up, the spot was near Nashville TN. In fact Steve had already left Witchita Falls and had five hours under his bumper. Then, my employer called and informed me that my days off had been cancelled... (Still think I have a glorious job?). So I turned Steve around, flew my trip and then felt obliged to do the whole thing. In the end we met up fifty miles west of Little Rock, and did the transfer at night in a truck stop...
I am back flying now, but will end up in Houston on Saturday night, then go to Dallas and take Steve through a whole setup/break down on Sunday. I will post some photo's when I get back from that.
As far as the road trip......Bethlehem to the truck stop and back was 2400.8 miles.....it took 47 hours.....(I took a few naps in the back of the Suburban and a shower at the truck stop.) By Sunday night in one week and in addition to the road trip I will also have seen Newark and Houston six times each, in addition Fort Lauderdale twice, also LA, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Las Vegas. My mother says I never sat still as a child.......
Man, you hear some scary stuff on a CB in the middle of the night in the Smokey's...

Both Dave and I were sailing around the free anchorage, salivating over a C380 tonight, also a great looking 70 footer something ketch in the anchorage, the crew says they are heading for New Zealand, home port Oakland. C25 is a sailikng dinghy to that boat, maybe I'll take a few photos of her tomorrow!
Oscar, I'm really surprised that you couldn't tell them to find another flyer, are you "on call" like we Sheriff's IT staffers are?
Every airplane model/seat/base has a list......."Cleveland 737 First Officer" for example.....I'm a Newark 757/767 Captain, the first 80-85% get a monthly schedule, the bottom guys and girls are on call, certain days every month. But under some conditions days off can be "rolled".....I got rolled.
Dave, know any doctor that has one?

Went through a complete launch/short sail/retrieval and breakdown today. On Lewisville Lake near Dallas. Winds 10-15, temps 70's, solid overcast, constant threat of rain, occasional sprinkle.....guess locals consider that a bad day....we were the only ones there. Everything went well, Steve is happy with the boat. It's done.

Congratulations, Oscar, and especially to Steve!
Here in San Diego (my temporary home), it was supposed to rain a little today--the first time, they were saying, since April! But the sun was brilliant all day long. Maybe it'll rain in another six months. How can you really appreciate a sunny day when that's all you ever have?
