How about we get these pending promotions over with already, eh?

So, what did guys you think about Russell Coutts getting the big squeeze out of all the America's Cup racing syndicates?

Think there's grounds for an age discrimination lawsuit there?

Hi J.B.,

Hmmmm ... 'guess we're all knocking on the door of "Master Marine Consultant" ... I can't even type it right (after 40 years of typing Maring, I can't seem to put the "e" on the end of marine ).

At risk of great personal embarrassment, I have no idea who Russell Coutts is ... could we talk about Tiger's new wife instead? I do know something about Scandinavian genes!

Buzz - Oscar was put in charge of managing threads of that nature. It's a newly created staff position.
(P.s. You're my kind of sailor, Buzz - CRUISER! Coutts was the sled driver for Alinghi last year and New Zealand four years ago.)

Steve - CONGRATULATIONS, finally.

Did you notice that the 300 ton boat Tiger bought for his wife for a wedding present entered into Puerto Rico illegally, was boarded by the USCG and I'm sure the captain and crew are in some hot water regarding their licenses.

Captain stated he did not know there was a requirement to provide USCG 96 hour advance notice of arrival at a US port.

Captain has his 500 ton masters license, how could he not know? Its on MY exam.

PS. They have said I'll qualify for my 50ton, with sailing and towing. Yipee! Now all I have to do is study, study, study (its actually pretty hard).

Call me Captain, soon. Thats the only promotion I care about

Hmmmm, Jim, I think there's a thread about that around here somewhere...., and I'm not sure the Captain of the "Privacy" (no more) was US licsensed, as the vessel is of Cayman registry.....(outsourcing?)

Congratulations, Jim! Although, you better not let the County find out or you'll have alot more sailing time available. ;-)

Come on, Buzz, let's talk about Russell Coutts some more and get you over the hump, too.

I've passed the exam and the physical! (Hey Doc, will you write a note to my wife that my head is in fact not up there?) My vision passed 20/20 uncorrected. So it must'ave used to been like an eagles.

Yep. And I am going to try and get that wrote up today. Fortunately I have kept a log on my Desiderata and Chick-a-pea so I have the required time. I just need to write it up. There were only four of us in the class. One guy who is looking to be a fishing guide and two rich kid brothers. The younger brother has bought a 1962 model 65 foot aluminum hull sailboat and could not even tie a reef knot! Very scarey. After he passed the final exam which was almost impossible to do because they give you a study sheet that is in fact the exact questions on the exam, he turned to the instructor and says with all seriousness, "I want to hire you to captain my boat." This instructor is the ferry boat captain at Mayport. He just laughed and pointed to me and said "Here's the guy you need to hire." Most of what they taught was review for me but I did learn a couple of new things. For instance, course correction for projected set and drift. BTW, does anyone know what the gross and net tonage of a C-250 is? Also if anyone else is wanting to learn lights and shapes and sounds, there is a downloadable program (shareware) at NAVRULES.COM.
