Since you all know that I am a cheap bastard this question will come as no surprise...
If I have two blocks that I want to use in tandem, one is a triple and the other is a double, is there any drawback to tying a bowline in the middle sheave on the triple and use it as a becket...(both blocks are side by sides)...
There is nothing wrong with tying to a sheave, but if you are using these blocks together(the line is running between them) them you should tie off the line to an end sheave of the triple so the lines will not cross.
Nope, that's exactly what I did. I had a double block /w/ becket fail and I replaced it with a triple. That's all the store had. I plan to change the current double with a triple /w/ becket to increase the M.A.
I work with block and tackle systems quite a bit. The best way to reeve to a center becket like that is to use the Right Angle method. That way the lines never touch and they won't twist.
I can explain how if your interested or don't know.
