Here's an inside shot of some of the damage done to the Big Cat.
It seems that the storm surge picked up the boat (complete with its mooring!)pushed it to the destroyed docks and dropped it on a piling.

Paul - it is (was?) a 50' Prout sailing catamaran that I used to crew on - I helped take her back to Pensacola just in time for Ivan...

that explains how it could have a piling driven through the bottom of the boat and not be sunk....

Derek, what did the insurance people finally tell Ed about repair? I am sure there is more damage than the pile. I would hate to see them salvage such a nice boat if repairable.

Jerry - the adjuster said it was probably totalled. Then Ed (the owner) told him what it was insured for ($235,000) The adjuster said "maybe we can salvage her...let's get her onshore for a better exam before deciding!"
