I'm planning on adding a roller furling next spring. I currently have a 110 and a 150. The 150 is a real "deck sweeper", and I don't like using it because I can't see what's in front of me, ( I sail on a small inland lake which gets way too crowded in the summertime ). Can the 150 be cut to a 135 or should I get a new sail? I'm assumimg a sail loft can tell me if the 150 is in good condititon. How can you tell if a sail needs replacement? By the way I noticed in my CD catalogue, on the page where they list new sails, the photo of the sail has the # 2287 which just so happens to be the number of my sail, however, that is definately not my sail. Yet I think my sail is the original. mmm????
A good (and honest) sailmaker can tell you if your sail is in good/bad shape and worth making a 135 out of it. My sail maker said he could make a 130 out of my 150...or a 110 if that's what I wanted. So the capability is there, the question is whether or not your sail is in good enough condition so you can get enough use out of it as a 135 before it dies, to get your money's worth.
