After dropping the mast I noticed the spreaders are a bit loose. The bracket mounted to the mast is fine but the spreaders have a bit of a wobble. Is this normal?

Yes - a small amount of play is normal. What kind of spreader socket do you have, the cast aluminum, or the stainless steel? If you have the aluminum sockets, you might want to upgrade them to the stainless steel part. There have been a few failures of the cast aluminum sockets reported.
