The Navy is sending me to North Island next week from 10th to the 15th. I will have nothing to do while in town. If anyone has room or is looking for an extra hand or 2 please let me know. I just got mine back in the water after the Hell-Summer here in FL and have yet to sail.
Tom the navy has a fleet of five brand new C250 wk's with a wheel and a diesel. They are at Fiddlers Cove as part of their rental fleet. They also have six older C25’s with a tiller and outboard. Fiddlers Cove is just down the strand from North Island. You could go out for a sail every evening if you wanted to. Being a Naval marina the rental prices are very reasonable. Keith

Classical Cat should be sailing on Thursday, the 11th, and possibly on the weekend along with Indiscipline. So now you have more options for sailing while here in San Diego
Oh, also, you don't need to BYOFE if you sail on "The Cat".
I am sad to say that the Darn Navy changed the trip(I hate it when they do that) to Whidbey Island Wa. I appreciate the offers and would like to take you up in the future. Thanks again.
Too bad. If the US Navy changes their collective minds, we'll be here.
I'll be sailing Thursday and most likely spending the night Friday, going early Saturday morning, and probably Sunday afternoon, too. Already have 3 days sailing this month of Nov. (last Friday, Sat, and Sun - even in the rain!). Going to have 6 days in by Sunday. Can you believe I already have 178 days at sea in the 18 months I've owned Indiscipline III??? I estimate well over 2000 miles sailed on my C25.
I've been making these long trips up towards Blacks/Del Mar (past Scripps Pier and La Jolla cove). There has been a lot of life (dolphins, birds, fish) over Scripps Canyon. Thats where the depths drop off from 100 feet to over 600, then back up on the other side.
Its about 7 to 10 miles from Mission Bay, going offshore of the La Jolla kelp. Makes for a real nice 6 hour round trip with the return leg downwind. Have to be prepared to motor some (don't always have wind the whole way).
Mega bonita bite up there 2 weekends ago - caught 4 bonita and 1 giant mackeral in 30 minutes of non-stop activity surrounded by upwards of 1000 diving birds. And Indiscipline was the only boat out there!

Amazing!
Yes and when I'm not sailing I'm (1) in Captains class, or (2) reading a sailing book, or (3) dreaming about sailing and planning my next trip.
I got to find a way to get a field trip on the bridge of a merchant vessel.
By the way, I've told my instructor this. He says to try to see a an older movie called "The Bedford Incident" with Sidney Poiter (spelling ?). Its the most realistic depiction of Navy bridge action he's seen.
I may have a chance yet. Today , not wanting to follow the 2nd plan, have decided San Diego IS nicer this time of year than WI Wasshinton! Yeah. Now the 3rd plan is set and we should be there 18-22. Being the 3rd plan, it is likely the last. We will see. The proof will be when we are halfway and still headed West! My fingers are crossed.
