MY TEAK IS DONE WITH CETOL WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT MY C25 I VARNISHED THE
EXTERIOR TEAK WITH MARINE SPAR. IT DIDN'T LAST A SEASON ON THE GULF
COAST. USED CETOL LAST YEAR AND AFTER 12 MONTHS ONLY NEEDS A RECOAT TO
TOUCH UP.

Several years ago when I was trying to maintain all the teak on an early model Erickson I owned an old timer stopped and watched me for a while he then suggested I use plain old Amonia (about a dollar a gallon) and a scrub brush to clean the teak with and then oil it with everyday transmission fluid. I took his advise the time involved was minutes compared to hours and the results, well the teak on that boat looked as good as the teak on other boats who spent all summer cleaning and oiling it. I have used it to clean my catalina and then this summer removed all the teak and sealed the rails and hatches with 10 coats of SPAR varnish. I doubt I will be cleaning teak in the next few years.
