Since I have to buy a new jib pretty soon and I am about 155 miles from a sailmaker on Lake Champlain, has any one had just the second reefing points installed on a main sail and how many BU's were involved. THANX in advance C250 WB 089.
Bear, I had a second set of reef points put in by Sail Care in Ford City PA. The also cleaned and reconditioned my sails. They describe their process on their website at http://www.sailcare.com/. The set of reef points cost $85. The cleaning was $137 (based on $0.90 per square foot). They'll inspect your sails and send you an estimate before doing any work. Then you call their toll-free number and talk to the person who worked up your estimate. I recommend them.
I did not ask for a jack line since I have a mast gate but I did have a grommet replaced for one dollar, so I doubt a jack line would cost much.
Turn-around time for cleaning and repairing my two sails during the winter was about 4 or 5 weeks.
I got what I think is a pretty good estimate for a new jib from Doyle sails on Lake Champlain in Plattsburg N.Y. About 155 miles one way, They repaired the jib once for me two years ago. I just wanted some input on the second reef points for the main from other members. I was figuring on taking the main up there and picking up the new jib and either going back to pick up the main or having it shipped UPS. THANX again.
