On CBS news tonight, Santa arrived at Seaport Village in San Diego aboard, you guessed it, a C250!!!
Sailing today, no wind when I arrived. Then light SW winds. By the time I was out of Quivira Basin headed out the channel, Indiscipline was heeled over 45 degrees! I got a reef in, but it was still too much. So I sailed back to the slip, rolled up the 135, and put on the 110. The smaller jib and reefed main were just right and I tacked out of the harbor in a very good breeze.
After sailing out about 4 miles the wind dies and I'm motoring back. Strange day. Blue skies, sunny, temp about 70.
Off to the football game, Valley Center High School is undefeated this season and tonight is the first playoff game.
Around here the winter pressure gradients are often quirky too... 5 kts of wind over the beachline, a quarter mile away it's blowing 20. Another half mile to the east and it's calm.
I've sailed a 500 yard circle with the wind on the starboard beam all the way... Makes one wonder... where does the air come from? Where does it go? Only directions I can figure are up and down.
