Fellow Catalina 25 owners. John Vining and I are planning a late June cruise (approx. 25-30 June or longer)around the Keweenaw Peninsula in Upper Michigan, next summer. We would like to invite as many other Mid-West Catalina 25 owners as would like to join us. We are a little out of the way but we have some of the best sailing/cruising ground (Lake Superior and Keweenaw Bay) you'll find anywhere - the water is fresh and clear and the winds are strong a steady.

I don't have the capability, but perhaps John can publish a photo showing a chart of the planned cruise area. This is a great opportunity for us Mid-Western Catalina owners to finally put a face to a name. Heck, John and I haven't even met each other yet except via email and the phone. Please let me know via email if you would like more information and/or plan to go along.

Alan,

Perhaps we can make it later in the year or get it together on Lake Michigan somewhere. A mid-west rendezvous of Catalina 25/250 owners, on one of the great lakes, sounds like lots of fun to me.

I am tentatively planning on keeping my boat on Lake Michigan this year in Sheboygan. I may be interested in meeting people somewhere on the lake also. I hear that sailing around door county is beautiful and has many marinas and anchorages especially on the Green Bay side.

This will be my second cruise of Lake Superior. Having sailed on many of the other great lakes and lived for 50 summers on Neebish Island in the North Channel, I can't say enough about this greatest lake in the world. 10% of the worlds fresh water is in this one lake alone. The sights are fantastic and the solitude is refreshing. I hope some of you will consider joining Al and me on this cruise. I'll try to send some chart views in the next post. If you have electronic charting take a look at 47 28.7" N 87 51.9 W. in the mean time I'll scan the chart and send it on.

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and anticipate a great Christmas. My Kids do their Christmas show in two weeks. While my fellow faculty members are trying to nail down a few more benchmarks (the new lingo of no child left behind) I'm trying to herd 200 cats through their paces. Some of these kids are so wired I think that they havn,t run out of halloween candy yet. Well when I'm not teaching I mind sail with a full stack of charts on the sofa. I know your pain Oscar. I once left all my charts at the cottage for the winter and had to suffer without. Hope you get some charts soon.

Sounds like wonderful ideas to me. We ought to have several of these rondevous in different parts of the country. That is a great way to promote c25/250 as a fun boat to own and sail.
