anyone know good guidlines for when the water ballast may freeze? I put my new c250wb in the slip with the understanding that the 41 degree lake water temperature will keep it from freezing during short periods of low temps. With two nights of temps in the teens coming up, I am really wondering........

IT SEEMS LIKE THE LAKE WATER WOULD KEEP THE BALLAST WATER FROM FREEZING SINCE IT IS BELOW THE WATERLINE, BUT THAT IS ONLY SPECULATION. I GUESS YOU DON'T WANT TO GO THROUGH THE TROUBLE OF DISMASTING AND PACKING THE BOAT UP TO BRING IT HOME. WHY NOT TAKE IT OUT OF THE WATER LONG ENOUGH TO DRAIN THE BALLAST THEN PUT IT BACK IN USING MOTOR ONLY THEN REFILL THE BALLAST AFTER THE COLD SNAP, BUT BEFORE YOU SAIL.

No need to haul out...just place a low pressure high volume air pump (such as a dinghi inflator) into the vent, open the ballast discharge valve, and pump....when air bubbles appear, close the valve.
