I have a broken strand of wire on my lower stay off the mast. ( at least I think that's the way to put it ) So far, I have not found any place to buy a replacement. Any ideas?

From what I have heard Catalina Yachts is a good place and reasonable for purchasing replacement parts. www.catalinadirect.com also has a good supply of parts.

Jeff:
Two suggestions
1. Depending on where you are there are probably a host of places where you can have replacement rigging made up. Boat US will do it, but I had my rigging replaced by a local shop near my marina. You can provide them with the dimensions or give them the shroud itself, and they will create a duplicate. So shop around. This is especially important considering my second suggestion...
2. I don't know the age of your boat, but I was surprised to see that the owner's manual recommends replacing the standing rigging every 5 years. Regardless, it probably makes sense both practically and from a safety standpoint to consider replacing all of the shrouds and stays now. If one is obviously weak, the others are likely to be close, and it is better to discover this in December with the boat on the hard rather than in July in a stiff breeze.

I bought a complete set of standing rigging from Catalina Direct and it exceeded my hopes for quality. I could have had my local shop make them but sometimes familiarity breeds contempt.

IMHO I suspect that that five year replacement of shrouds would suggest a boat in a salty air enviroment all season with constant high humidity.

Bear,

IMHO Fresh water, oxygen, metal, & Mr. Murphy have a long-standing conspiracy to mess up things almost as efficiently as salt water.

With the unspecified age of Jeff's boat & a failed shroud I have to side with tbader about making complete replacement the way to go.

It's several boat units, but a lot cheaper than a new mast AND all the rigging would be.
