A couple months ago, I threw my name in the hat for a slip at Naval Station Annapolis. Each December they hold a lottery for 16 slips that are available to military members and retirees on a yearly basis. Well, a couple days ago Santa, diguised as my mailman, dropped a letter saying I was selected for one of the 16 slips!! As some of you might know, Annapolis is very expensive and any available slips generally have a long waiting list. Because this small marina (32 slips)is run by the Navy, we will get our slip for $1600/season. Needless to say we are very excited about the prospect of a season spent sailing out of Annapolis. The news is even sweeter since this was the first year we had not launched our boat and as you might imagine it was a long/dry season. Anyway, just thought I'd share the news.
Congratulations! It's nice to have a slip, so that you only have to load your cooler and go sailing. It's amazing luck to have a reasonably priced slip in one of the premier sailing centers in the world! Enjoy!
I plan to use the boat as bascamp for a weekend assualt on the boatshow and we welcome any of you to swing by and join the party.
quote:
Congrats. Post the slip number so we can all come visit during next year's sailboat show. (I drink Coors Light, by the way.)

Wow - $1600 is a reasonable slip price? Yikes, we if I didn't have a mooring in front of my house I would pay $180 at our club marina or $500 at the municipal marina. Talk about culture shock.
including electric, water, and bottom cleaning, Mission Bay is like $3600 per year so don't complain. Over on Shelter Island, Americas Cup Harbor, etc. you could expect to pay $9000 per year if they would even let a 1978 Catalina 25 in there (thats $30/foot each month, folks).
Love San Diego, but you gotta pay for it.
Anapolis is beautiful and one of my most favorite places on the East Coast!

Congrats Nate! That's an excellent price for Annapolis. It even beats anything north or south of there. I checked Annapolis prices and decided to keep my little backwater slip in Mayo.
Now I can crew for you - and I'll even bring the beer!
