Having spent many nights on "Brandy" sleeping in hobo heaven [the rear mattress] I found what is suppose to cure wave slap from reading the C320 forum . A fellow Catalina sailor had tied three or four "snoodles" together in a row and secured them at the rear most part of the lower stern, I suppose on C250's they would have to be just forward of the rudder. Any one else tried this? Wayne Brown C250 WB
I haven't tried what you described, but it sounds like it would work. A C-27 owner three slips down from mine did a similar thing ... he bought some floating "barriers" for use in a swimming pool and strung them across the entrance of his slip. He told me that not only did they cut down the wave slap, they also kept scum from accumulating along the waterline of his boat.
'Hope that helps a little ... let us know if you try it.
OK - wave slap under control now - What about duck tapping - I sleep back there also. There a a lot of mallard ducks around the docks - they like to browse the weeds and grass that tend to cling to the hull at water line. It sounds like a bouncing marble coming down the side of the hull (tap, tap ,tap, quack, tap, quack, ........
We will try the snoodles after the ice goes out in April-May. I would like to also try the floating barriers but share a slip. However, we don't have much of an issue with scum up here; The lake is pretty clean and the water is changed out through the winter months. If some of you sailors want to try this ahead of time be my guest. As for duck tapping how about duck tape????? Happy Holidays once again from upstate N.Y.
And then there's barnacle belching....seriously, took me for ever to figure out what it was....sounds like a distant popcorn popper, under water. All the clams/mussels/barnacles on the pilings open and do whatever it is they do.....only in salt water of course.

Had that happen once, she happened to be in line right in front of us at the store. It Seems my "Hay, how's it Going" was a tad too energetic, so says the admiral.
As for the wave slap and the ducks, isn't that why we sleep on the boat?
