Hello Judy
I just wieghted the boat today on Public scales in Santa Rosa , Ca.
The accuracy of the scale was said to be within +or- 20#.Cost $12.00.

2004 Catalina wing keel, with all std cushions,(4) fenders, rudder & tiller, 15# Danforth anchor and rode 240'of line,(1) 110 jib,(1) 155 jib, snapfurl roller furling,(1) main sail, 8" plastic trash can, cd-fm stereo with (4) speakers, power boom vang, 8' Al boat hook and all standing rigging, 2004 Honda 8hp power thrust engine with 2 gal's of gas in gas can and lastly 2004 Trail-tite trailer with mast raising system .
The Question is can the 1993 Jeep GC with allowed CHP towing modifactions pull this weight.

We have had a similar discussion very recently re the Jeep GC pulling this load, and the answer was no. The V8 version is rated for 6,500 pounds, the 4 cylinder less...don't have the number. Some will tell you they pull these boats with Explorers and similar vehicles. They will tell you they only go a short distance, it's all good road, only do it twice a year, and similar types of justification. If you are towing more than the tow vehicle is legally capable of pulling or exceeding the GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating), which is the combined weight of vehicle and trailer, you could be setting yourself up for serious legal troubles it you are in an accident. You could be found liable, have your insurance cancelled, etc. It's not worth it.

Total weight Jeep, trailer and boat.....10,320 lbs
trailer and boat......6,280 lbs
Hey for some of you who do not have your owners manual , this is what mine says, 1993 Jeep GC owners manual GCWR........10,500 lbs ,gross trailer wieght .......6,500 lbs.
Please do not take information herein as lawful facts. These figures should be used, maybe as a guide along with common sense..
Further more I will not tell what road I took, quality of the road , how fast I drove, tire pressure and if I had the proper transmisson fluid and it was above the add mark , etc.
Turk you win. Good answer.
By the way I also had a winch handle aboard the boat during the wieght in.
Merry Xmas everyone.
