...not a shark--a fin keel C-250 named "The Lily Pad" marked as from Middleton, NH, on the hard at Norwalk Cove Marina (CT) where my C-25 is stored. I vaguely recall seeing a fin drawing in the brochure, but never heard of one actually in existence. Now I know.
Association Port Captain, Mystic, CT Past member and DPO of C-25 #5032 Now on Eastern 27 Sarge (but still sailing) and posting as "Stinkpotter". Passage, Mystic, and Sarge--click to enlarge.
If it shows up at Nationals, the other 250s could have a problem--that keel is deep and slender. I'm betting she sails a lot higher than the wings, and probably stiffer than WBs.
Dave; You probably did see one. I saw one at the Oakland boat show in 1999 or 2000. It was presented as an option by Catalina and it was shown by John at Wind Toys. The boat had a deep fin keel 5-6 feet with a finless torpedo-like bulb. It had an Yanmar engine with a sail drive and I think it was a tall rig. The boat, as I remember it, was a water ballast hull with no tank so it had more head room. The boat was displayed stern to stern with a 250WB and it stood a lot higher on the trailer. I was fascinated by the boat and I often wondered what happened to it. Robert

It looked to be between 4' and 5' draft. I couldn't tell whether it was a TR--hard to judge with a bare pole and up on stands. Also couldn't find a hull # from outside.
Dave; I may be wrong about the bulb on the keel. Did the boat that you saw have a sail drive with a folding prop? Was it a 250WB hull? I was pretty impressed with the one that I saw. In fact, I was looking at a Hunter or a Santana when I saw this boat and it caused my wife and I to look at the 250 when we sold our H35.5. It was no longer an option when were ready to down size but I was told that the fin keel sailed well but it lost favor because it was too hard to trailer unless you had a crane with a sling. Robert
