Does anyone have any information on Pueblo Res. outside of Colorado Springs. Wondering if there is decent sailing or is it a powerboat mecca. I understand there are two marinas on the lake with the normal facilities.
Colorado Springs is an option for our next assignment (Air Force) and we are trying to find a Base with sailing nearby, good schools in town and reasonable housing costs. I know...I'm dreaming!!
Anyway, any feedback on Pueblo Resv. would be apreciated.

Or you could get a posting to Randolph AFB in San Antonio and come sail beautiful Canyon Lake...we could use another C25 on the lake!

Nate, try e-mailing Bryan Beamer. He sails Pueblo Res. You can find him in the member directory.

I know there is a Catalina dealer in Denver so there must be sailing in that area. I fell in love with the Catalina 25 there. It sat next to a Hunter 26. No comparison in quality.

I've been to Colorado Springs. Peterson AFB is nice but "Space Mountain" is not so nice. Colorado Springs had a depressed economy the last time I talked to Army friends a few years ago. I believe there is also a small AF training base in Denver which is near a large resevoir in western Nebraska. There are Catalina sailers up there also.

As long as we’re suggesting alternatives, Hill AFB in Ogden, Utah is close to the Great Salt Lake. The South Marina has a very active yacht club and there are another two lesser marinas on the lake. Lots of Cat 25's there, as well as some serious big boats. Powerboats and PWC are nonexistent ( salt water scares them off). A "sailboat only" body of water. You would also be close to Bear Lake (Utah/Idaho border), my personal favorite, as well as several mountain reservoirs. Recent scuttlebutt says Hill will survive yet another round of base closures nation wide. Good luck in your next assignment. Todd Frye

Todd, Hill AFB is not available for my wife's career field (Family Nurse Practitioner) which is a bummer because I'm sure it would be high on the list if it was an option.

Frank, Same story with McConnell...our friend Mindy, another AF nurse that we are trying to get stationed with, can't go there. Plus there is no way in hell my standard rig, wing keel could win nationals....but I'd love to be there anyway. Thanks!!

Derek...Our friends spent 6 years at Big Willie (Willford Hall) in San Antonio and are wanting to expand their horizons. Thanks though...

Dave, Thanks for the lead...I dropped Brian a line and hope to hear some feedback. How did your haulout go? Sorry we couldn't get together one more time before winter. I went to Annapolis to check out the marina at the Naval Station. Looks nice...only 32 slips tucked back in Mill Creek. Very protected. We can meet at Thomes Point LH for daysails next summer!!
