Man I'm glad I live in the south! Here are some photos of a marina in Geneva after an ice storm hit the area last month. The first one is of some that survived. If you hit previous or next you will see some that didn't. Its not a pretty sight!
I have it figured out. Look at the second picture and you will see rocks by the walkway, thus, it is a jetty. Look at the first pic and you will see the ice is concentrated down low and near the jetty. Look at the tops of the masts, no ice either. Not much ice on the backs of the boats near the jetty in the second pic. The ice is probably due to water spray from waves splashing on the rocks. Call me the professor. Where's Mary Ann?
I think Gloss has it right... the other pictures of trees etc show that the spray from the lake was blown into the air where it froze onto everything it touched.
Frank got it right. Check out the Web site and you'll see another 20 to 30 pictures. It's real obvious that the ice is from wind blown water off their lake. The site said they had 70MPH winds and freezing temps. All that aside, the picture of the boat underwater just makes you sick. Any more questions about following Reverend Jimmy south to the islands.
