We have a new centerboard cable that we need to reinstall, but have no directions or diagram. Our diver has tried to install it, but it now is almost impossible to raise at all, and will not raise more than 1/2 way up. Can anyone supply installation instructions including a diagram if possible?
You might have missed the forward block. If you look at the attachment point on the keel and when in the up position it will touch the forward block. Sounds like uou missed it.
Doug is on the mark here. The cable on the c250 had been a source of difficulty...the original used a swedge on fitting that forced a bend at the fitting that broke after a while.
It's not too hard to replace...but it helps to have a game plan. One problem is staying in place to route and connect the cable. To route the cable...I use a line slung under the hull more or less between the winches. This allows using a hand to hold myself in place. To hook up the center board...dive down and wrap legs around the center board works well as it leaves both hands free and keeps me firmly in place.
