I have a C250WB. Has anyone purchased a bimini top from some place other than Catalina. If so, where, and how do you measure for one? Also, are they easy to mount on the boat yourself? Thanks.

Call or email "The Canvas Store" in Huntington NY (http://www.thecanvasstore.com/). Although I haven't bought from them, I've heard good things about them. They sent me a catalog including photos of another C250 with their bimini. Their price for the bimini and rain fly (which extends the bimini forward to cover the companionway) was less than my local sail loft charges. Both vendors were over $1000.

Check the vendors in your local area. You might find one who will give you a good deal.

BTW, the local loft built a bimini for local C250 wing keel boat. Their solution to giving more headroom was to raise the boom and cut a foot from the bottom of the main. I don't think I'd do this. To extend the bimini as far forward as possible, you might have to relocate the mainsheet bail/block farther forward on the boom.

Go to www.gmitopdesign.com. A friend was able to submit his order with all info on line, including measurements and fabric choices. He installed the bimini himself (on his Seaward 25) and is very happy with the results which he claims cost much less than other options.

Mark Melchior is right. "The Canvas Store" in Huntington NY www.thecanvasstore.com did install bimini on my C-250 WB. Price was good about $1100 included installation (I am also from Long Island) and bimini is great, (not too large and not too small). The picture in catalog is from my sailboat. They did take a measure so you can expect right result. It include window in the top and it is ease to disassemble.
