Last Sunday being Palm Sunday we had the traditional Blessing of the Fleet here in Jacksonville. I got off work @ 3:30p on Saturday and was underway by about 6:00p for the 10 or so miles to downtown from my slip. Sailed 'til 11:00p on a beautiful night with half moon and stars and plenty of wind. Much of the time I was able to lash the helm and stand on the bow and just be one with nature. Listening to ch16 some other chap had problems. Seems he ran his sailboat into a barge 'cause "all the lights blend in with the city." Sunday morning I left my gunkhole and had to motor under all the bridges to tie up at the Jacksonville Landing (riverfront) until 1:30p to get in line with about 200 other boats. There was one old lady out there in a kyak (sp?) AT THE LANDING VIEW ASTERN. THERE ARE BOATS ALL THE WAY PAST THE HART AND MATHEWS BRIDGES. HEADING TO THE BLESSING. NOTICE THE MAIN ST. BRIDGE IS UP. I BET THE MOTORIST LOVED THAT. THE GREEN ROOF GAZEBO LEFT OF THE ORANGE ROOFS IS WHERE THE PRIEST IS DOING THE BLESSING
