1989 Catalina 25. Wing keel, std rig, Sail # 5967 I've had her for almost 4 years, and it's been a blast. Never had any trouble. And took really good care. I'm now looking into a Catalina 30, something bigger to maybe cross over to Bahamas/extended cruising.

Say what Steve? I guesse I have been obnoxious about my enthusiasm for 89 wings, for that I'll apologize.
Hey Jorge, In late April, three of us 89 wing keel owners are trailering two boats down to the Keys to sail to the Tortugas. I'll be heading to Key West and will launch at Oceanside. Where are you located? Maybe we can meet. I would like to see your boat too. It sounds like you have put a lot of work into it. We will be stopping at Lorelei for sure on the way down.
Ooops, I guess I should have made it clear I was referring to Frank Hopper, the resident quick wit around here (example: his comment regarding Suzie Bucci and the Emmy). I thought sure he would pick up on the "boom-bang" listed in Jorge's boat description and have some sort of comment like "it only works with tall people."
And, Frank G, there's no need to apologize for being enthusiastic about a good thing.
Frank, Boat is docked at my place in Layton, Long Key, mm 68.5. I might go on a trip somewhere around the end of april, but should be back very early May. Fetish is in top shape. I sailed her back from Driftwood marina in Marathon (15 miles away) after the bottom job, and we averaged 6.5 knts along the way. Home in two hours.... and to top it off caught a couple of spanish mackerel for dinner while trolling along the way...... gotta love the keys. Tortugas is a beautiful place. Do you stop at Marquesas on the way there? I hear is really nice too. Send me a line when you head this way,
Hey Jorge, Why your boat looks just like mine, except it has a nicer bottom. What kind of paint did you use. I'll be heading to the keys april 17, will launch at Oceanside on Stock Island, and head to the Tortugas via the marquesas. We may have another 89 wing with us also, and my friend going with me also has an 89 wing. I polluted all of their minds. Good luck on selling your boat
Does the boat have a bow pad eye for securing it to a trailer winch? I couldn't tell from the photos, none of them showed enough of the bow to see if there is a padeye. Does the boat come with a trailer?
"Boom-Bang" - a device used to free up self-tailing "wenches" when they are sticky or malfunctioning.
Larry, boat does have a pad eye, but does not come with a trailer. Let me know if you want any detailed pictures in particular, and I'll post them at the shutterfly album Jorge
Jorge.. I just posted My C30 For Sale this AM here and see you might be looking for one. I have a '75 - 1st year of production for the C30 and before Frank and the boys found out they could get away with a lot less glass.. In other words, she's built like a "brick..well you know". I'm looking to down size possibly back to a C25 - and would consider a trade. Hope to have pictures after this weekend. Let me know if your interested. Thanks
Mark, this could be a sign. I, like your C30, was also born in 75, and just turned 30... I know...I'm getting old. Let me know where you post the picutures to take a look. Only problem with the fin keel, is that you can get in trouble fast around the Florida Keys where I live....
Jorge..Well w/ the fin she draws about 5'6" + or - , but I know what your saying. Grounding can ruin your day! If your plan is to eventually cross over to the islands or extended cruising though - I'd want that fin under me. Of all the 30's or so I've been on (quite a few) and I'm sure this has to do with the 10'-10" beam as well (nick name - fat boy!) - the C30 is the most solid boat I've sailed - points better than a C30 w/ a wing and so on. Like everything else - advantages and disadvantages - I sure dont want to start the "keel vs. wing " debate! I'll let you know about the pics. Thanks for the reply!
Jorge: That boat can't last long at that price... or I hope not! I'm thinking you're $2-3K low. To prospective buyers: I have absolutely no connection or interest here, but this could be one of the best buys on the small cruiser market--the best model of the C-25 built, and a great boat to own but also one you should be able to sell for that or more in a hurry!
Thanks for the free press Dave, I've had a couple of people asking for pictures, and one person might come down this weekend to take a look. Boat is in prime shape, and sails beautifully. I reviewed the price down because I have been looking at Catalina 30s, but cannot move until I get some money so I can make some offers. Moving up it's been an easy decission after having owned my Catalina 25 all these years, which has been trouble free with lots of action. Hope I don't regret it later, but I guess I have to try it anyway.
I traded my C22 WK for an Irwin Citation 30 a few years ago....I, in hindsight wished I'd stopped for a few years at 25 feet. But, I was, and am still, in love with the 30. I sold her in October...As a matter of fact, I just came back from the marina where she sits. I look her over every once in a while because she was so awesome to own. The nice thing about 30 feet is that they are capable of going anywhere. I her in BIG water and she took care of us spectacularly!! Hence my Love for her. But, the real reason I'm hopping in here today is to whine about all the nice Wing Keel boats on the other coast for sale. I wish some of them were over here in Oregon....I am searching for the right Catalina 25 WK....
Jorge.. Catalina C30 Pics - for your viewing pleasure. Did not know about "shutterfly" until your posts. Thanks for turning me on to that...pretty neat little system there!
Last drop in price. $8,000 Firm. I haven't had much luck selling her, but she really has to go. This is a great deal on a great boat. Top shape, ready to sail. Check out the pictures. No trailer. Does anybody have any experience with sailboats in ebay auctions?. Just wondering if that would be a good way to try and sell her. Thank You,
the market is tough. Been trying to sell my 84 (listed in swap meet) As for Ebay unless you put a reserve price your boat will go for squat. I had people living in Chile winning the bids, and then wanting me to coordinate the shipping. All this while he proposed to keep the money in his bank in an escrow account. That did not go over well with me, so be careful out there, and good luck in your sale!!
I checked into a trailer, as Fetish sounds like an awesome boat. Triad is the leader in trailer manufactoring for this boat but at $5400 I have to look elsewhere. Hope you can find it cheaper. Everyone Please be aware of scams!!!! I listed my Cat 22 on another site and have been sent 20-30 offers all wanting to send cashiers checks. I did recieve one in the mail and found it to be fake. Jorge I am still looking for a trailer.
