My wiring has annoyed me for over a year. Today I sat in the sail locker for about three or four hours and tidied things up a bit. I added a new grounding buss and replaced the old swinging open cigarette lighter. Fixed my dual battery test switch so it actually tested each battery independently. Wired my new salon light; yada yada yada.

I also came across the cutout plug from my port cockpit speaker that had been laying on the shelf in the locker. Last spring right before launch my aft light failed the pre-launch test. I chased it for a while, declared it bizarre and ran new wiring to a new light. Today I discovered why the old one died and was so hard to trace. Cute Catalina

We are pretty particular about our Mexican food in San Antonio, and I can tell you, I've NEVER heard of a burrito birthday cake!

Seriously ... that round thing is a piece of fiberglass that Frank cut out to make room for a stereo speaker ... that red streak you see in the edge is what's left of the wire to Frank's light ... that's why Frank's light mysteriously gave up the ghost after he installed the speaker.

I have to say Frank, I thought I was the only one whose projects turned out like that ... maybe we can start our own club ... the "flub club" ...

Thanks, of course the first thing I found out when I was done was that the red bulb in my new light is bad.

I am so totally not impressed with Catalina's wiring prowess. I have completely rewired just about everything on my boat. At least our hulls and decks are well built.
From what I understand the newer large Catalinas are wired to ABYC standards, but that doesn't help us out much.
