Some of you may remember that I asked about new sails last year. I finally have the money to buy a new main and genoa. I have tentatively decided to go with Crusing Direct. I have two questions one trivial and one more important.

Cruising Direct offers a loose footed main. Do any of you have a loose footed main and how do you like it. I'm a little nervous since I have no experience with such a sail. I'm probably nervous just because all change is hard.

The trivial question is should I pay about $100 for the C25 insignia and the sail numbers? Other that personal preference I can't think of a reason to do so. Is there one? Do those of you without the insignia and numbers miss them?

As always, thanks for your help.

So far as I know, the Catalina insignia is not important for any reason. Sail numbers are only required for racing, to help identify your boat. If you plan to race, I suggest you get the numbers. If not, I wouldn't get either. You can always have them added later, if you change your mind.

If you want the C25 insignia, try: http://www.sailboatlogos.com/

They make sailcover logos, don't know about logos for the sail itself.

Go with the loose foot. Easy to manage and much more adjustable.
This change is GOOD.
Do a search for mains and you'll get all the information you could ever want.
Probably way more than you'd ever want or need!
Plan on reading a long time there's a lot of it!

Sail numbers should cost you about 3 to 6 bucks each, you could probably get the contact paper like fabric stuff (not sure whats its really called) and make them yourself. I did that for one of my sails, but had a sailmaker get me the material.

The logo is a little tougher, I don't think we have the logo on our main....

There is no reason to have it. - dw
