I have a question concerning the cockpit. I noticed on the deck pretty much dead center a circular plastic piece approx. 6 to 7 inches in diameter. What is it used for? a table perhaps? Any thoughts from my fellow Catalina owners. Thanks a Catalina newbie...

Does the plastic piece look like it can be removed (i.e. unscrewed, or something similar)? Is it perfectly round? Is there any chance you could post a photo?
It might be for a cockpit table, as you suggested, but it's hard to say without seeing what it looks like. It also sounds like it is located where you'd mount the pedestal for a steering system. Has your boat ever had wheel steering?
A photo would be a big help ... let me know if you need any photo-posting tips.
Thanks Buzz for the reply, the piece in question is perfectly round but I'm unsure if it unbolts or not. I will take a pic this weekend and post. Again thanks for your help.
