Just received a letter from the CanPass folks stating that this option to clear Canadian customs is not available-and may not be available anytime soon (but you can pay your money-just in case!)

Also heard that the Canadian folks intend to search every boat that goes through customs-not fun, especially in the northwest!

And, if you are planning to venture into Canada, bring your passport with you. If you do not have a passport, your original birth certificate will be accepted. Drivers license are a no-no!! They only tell the Canadian folks that you can drive, but not where you are born!

Looks like it is going to be an interesting summer!

So Ken does that mean you will be exploring the South Sound and perhaps visiting us. Today is splash day for Wind Lass and she sure looks pretty. Jim and I will be on the sling at 4:30pm.

Sorry guys:

Yes we do have some good weather up here even though last month was the pits! Heading out to Stuart Island on Thursday with seven boxes of books for the one room school there. (Stuart Island is closest island to Canada in the northwest-like a hundred yards away-with no running water, electricity, phone, TV, stores, a dirt road that only connects part of the island (the rest have to use dingies to get from north to south, etc. with the greatest bunch of kids I have ever worked with!), then heading to Friday Harbor for the weekend. I know, someone has to do it-might as well be me!!

As for the south sound, we are heading north at the end of May for a month of cruising Canadian waters-Princess Louisa, Desolation Sound, and beyond. Anyone out there want to come!!??!!(Bring your passport!)
